1.1.0 Apr 9, 2015. Phoophan, What is wrong with HP?
I have been loyal to HP Printers since I can remember but that is coming to an end very quickly. I simply cannot believe I have so many issues with HP Software that interacts with HP Printers. This has been going on for years. I purchase a new printer on the average of one every two years and every single time I have issues with software!
It’s truely unbelievable! Why can’t HP get thier act together when it comes to software?
Someone at the “C” Level needs to get their act together and fire the current head of Software development and hire someone who knows what they are doing! It’s that bad. I bet you any amount of money, HP’s trouble calls would go down 66% if they created better software.
I’ve had my current Multi whatever printer for three years and for some Godforsaken reason I tried to update my software because I couldn’t get my computer to recognize the printer. I won’t even go into what took place next. Let’s just say I am going to a friends house to scan one little receipt. I have this boat anchor of a printer that supposedly does everything under the sun and I can’t even scan a simple little receipt. Sorry HP but our marriage is over. On to bigger and BETTER things.

On to bigger and BETTER things. Stop The Pain!, Worst Experience I’ve ever had with a single software I’ve owned by HP Officejet Pro 8620 for about two years, and it has been the perfect PRINTER for my small business. However, I had an important deadline requiring me to SCAN some sccompanying material, and after looking through the printer menus and also online, I downloaded this app thinking it would make the entire process easy. After trying to configure this for a good portion of an hour, I am forced to quit because I have to go elsewhere if I want to ensure that this scan will be completed in time.
I have been using computers for about 15 years, and this is the single worst experience I have EVER had with a single software. Not only am I missing my deadline because my scanner wont scan using this stupid app, but now I am going to have to drive out of my way and go find a third party place, to scan my documents (for a fee) because this app isn’t working right. My printer still works great, but I have physically written down a note and taped it to my printer to remind me that whenever this printer breaks, I will NEVER purchase an HP Product again, simply due to how horrific this experience was of trying to simply scan something using their built in scanner. Wrenovation, I should’ve knownand read other reviews here first. I’ve had my HP “do everything” super printer for a couple of years now - going on 3 actually; but ever since I had to get a new lap top and switch from a MacBook Pro to a MacBook Air, well, the scanner is just totally FICKLE. It seems to be working just fine one day, then the next time I NEED to scan something, it pops up THIS message: 'HP Officejet Pro 8610 4963D5 is currently unavailable. Please check if it is turned on and connected, or try again later.” BULL.
I searched online for an answer and thought of checking for an update.and found this one. Now, my scanner worked this morning but four and a half hours later, ZILCH. I thought maybe updating the software would fix things, but that didn’t happen.
I’m preparing for an extremely important hearing and have all kinds of Exhibits to scan and make sets of and I am ABANDONED by HP. I’ll defininitely have to think dozens of times over “twice” before buying another HP Printer.
What a disappointment, because I liked them before this! Wrenovation, I should’ve knownand read other reviews here first. I bought a multifunction printer a few years ago for printing from my Mac, but now I’d like to take advantage of the scanner to digitize some documents. It is not immediately obvious how to use the scanner part of the printer, though. Do I need to download software? When you installed the driver software that originally came with the multifunction printer/scanner, you may have also added a utility program for scanning. Take a look in your Mac’s Applications folder for programs from your printer’s manufacturer.
For example, if you have and installed the default programs when you were setting it up, check for a Hewlett-Packard folder containing “HP Scan” and other software for use with the printer. You can also download updated versions for your model from the support area of the manufacturer’s website. Most recent versions of the Mac operating system (macOS Sierra and earlier editions of OS X) can use the system’s feature to automatically download the necessary software for scanning.
When your software is ready to go and the printer/scanner is connected and powered on, you can also scan from the Printers & Scanners box — select the Scan tab above the model name and click Open Scanner to get the scanning controls.
